A Stritch In Time..

And here's to you Miss Elaine,  you have been my mentor and muse forever!

The above is a clip from an extremely rare 1970 live recording of Ladies Who Lunch, this is truly as surreal as it gets. The audience is absolutely riveted by Elaine belting this iconic 11 o'clock number.
I once myself, had the honour of being cast as Joanne , in a repertory revival of Company in my university days.

She nay be 86 - but Elaine is still a Broadway Baby!

And as recently as early 2011, she starred in a revival of Sondheim's 1973 powerhouse, A Little Night Music, replacing Angela Landsbury

Hope the Mal De Mer has abated!

In 1975 Elaine would star as quick quipper Dorothy Mcnab in London Weekend Television's production; Two's Company. Stritch truly had the midas touch with the various mediums she was involved in. The beauty of Mcnab, is that the character doesn't veer that far away from Stritch's  inimitable personality. This dame's certainly possesses some serious pepper!

Elaine would also be the very first Trixie Norton , here as she appeared on a pilot segment of The Honeymooners. The original Trixie  was actually a lady of Burlesque, but after a reworking of the character, a new livelihood was born -  housewife, and Joyce Randolph, who was initially considered  after being noticed by Jackie Gleason from a Clorets brand advert she starred in would ultimately usurp the role as Lady Norton.
